Alright, so we all have access to the internet… So we all have access to nutritional information. There is a ton of good information, but a lot of junk, complete with junk science, to back it up.
Frankly, if it comes in a box or a bag, and is “processed” food, chances are it’s been “designed” so you will become addicted to it. See, it’s not about your health, it’s about money. I mean that’s what advertising is supposed to do right? Make money? Of course it is, but we’ve gotten to the point in not only this country, but around the world, where the pursuit of money in the “food” industry, is having catastrophic effects on our health. For instance, please click this link: http://www.facebook.com/saintcroixwellness and read the article I shared from http://www.mercola.com
You will hear in the media, eat low fat this or no fat that. The problem with this is that most of the fats in processed foods are Omega 6 fatty acids, which although needed by the body (they are involved with inflammation which we need to fight disease for instance). Americans get way too many Omega 6’s in their diet, primarily because Americans eat a highly processed diet, as opposed to a natural whole food type of diet.
Anyway, what happens when products are made for the average American to consume that are low or no fat, is that the taste is not palatable, meaning nobody will buy that product. So, what food manufacturers do is add things to improve taste..like sugar. Sugar in and of itself, in it’s natural form is not a bad thing, but we eat way too much of it. That’s amazing and scary, especially considering the adverse health effects of eating too much sugar. But that’s an article for another day.
